A 28-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday morning in Beech Meadow apartments, according to the Beech Grove Police Department.
Police arrived at the 150 block of Diplomat Court around 10:20 a.m. in response to reports of a person shot and identified the victim as Devon Ford, who had been a resident of the apartment complex for about three years.
Ford had been shot and killed in bed while his roommate was out taking the trash.

Police have identified the shooter as Ford’s nephew, a 16-year-old that was taken into custody. He has been preliminary charged with murder, according to police. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make formal charges after review.
The case remains an active investigation.
