Lilting the Veil: pancakes and syrup
A stack o’ pancakes feloniously assaulted by “syrup” holds lofty position in the pantheon of American breakfasts. Are today’s pancakes and syrup nourishing? Not exactly and that’s lamentable for your temple’s overall wellbeing.
We are simply not receiving sufficient vitamins and minerals from modern processed food today to achieve our dreams. Actually, we’re receiving accumulative daily doses of food chemicals and additives our holy temple doesn’t understand and treats as alien invaders. Hello disease!
Genetically-altered American white flour is heavily processed- stripped of the most nutritional aspects of the germ and the fibrous bran and it’s making folks sick, fat and unfulfilled. The white stuff increases risk of some cancers, fatty liver disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, weight gain, obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, fatigue, depression, anxiety, hypoglycemia, and overwhelms the immune system. Over-consuming AP white flour leads to blood sugar blues, inflammation, slows down metabolism acid / alkaline imbalance, and GI disorders. Do you grasp what I’m saying?
When you shop, read the label on Bisquick Original Pancake & Baking Mix and tell me what you recognize?: Partially Hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil (heart disease), leavening (baking soda, sodium aluminum phosphate (mental decline), monocalcium phosphate), dextrose (sugar), salt.
Is your pancake syrup camouflaged as a motherly lady? Read the label. The plastic jug lady is mostly imitation flavored HFCS. Many years ago, research revealed over-consuming HFCS increases risk of type 2 diabetes and can permanently scar your liver when combined with a sedentary lifestyle. Too many foods and beverages aimed at children are loaded with HFCS. About 50 percent of brands tested positive for mercury. Mercury exposure can result in irreversible brain and nervous system damage – especially in young, growing bodies. No love here.
There are strong links between the over- consumption of HFCS and elevated triglyceride and LDL (bad cholesterol) levels. Together they can cause arterial plaque build-up leading to hypertension, heart disease, and even stroke. Your body is a Temple, but only if you treat it as one. Get thee back into thy kitchen.
