Indy Air Bears jump for joy

The Indy Air Bears jump rope team saw success at the 2015 Pan-Am Championships held over the Fourth of July weekend. Twenty-four Air Bears were among the 300 plus jumpers from five countries who competed at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. This year marked the first annual Pan-American Championships, where teams from Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rice, and Trinidad and Tobago joined US teams in the four-day tournament. The Air Bears were one of twenty-one US teams to compete.

The team succeeded across the board—by the end of the competition they had medaled in every freestyle competition and two of the five speed events. Twenty jumpers qualified for grand finals, where the Air Bears took gold in Pairs Freestyle and Team Freestyle. Dante Agresta and Morgan Golay placed first in the open Pairs Freestyle, and they joined Elise McQueen and Eric Hinojosa to win the open Team Freestyle.

The Indy Air Bears are based out of Franklin Township, founded by Niki Glover. Glover and Valerie Rice coach the team that includes boys and girls from third grade through college from various schools around the Indianapolis area. For more information on the team, visit their website.
