Through donations from several vendors, Beech Grove City Schools hosted a community Thanksgiving dinner open to everyone in the Beech Grove community on Nov. 23.  High school students and staff from across the district served dinner to everyone in attendance. More than 670 community members RSVP’d for the dinner. More than 180 people volunteered to help for the evening.

“Thanksgiving is about celebrating everything we’re thankful for and to be able to give back,” said Christa Smiley, school board member. “I think this is a great way to really touch the lives of the residents in our community. Personally it’s nice to see all of the high school kids that are here volunteering. What a better way to model giving back to the community and have them be involved in that activity as well.”

Thanksgiving meals were also delivered to 60 families on Nov. 24. Donors include: Chartwells, DEEM, Performance Services, and Piazza Produce.
