Beech Grove basketball coach resigns following arrest for cocaine possession

Mike Renfro, boys basketball head coach and teacher at Beech Grove City Schools, has resigned from his positions following an arrest Aug. 15 for dealing and possession of cocaine, as well as operating a vehicle while intoxicated and public intoxication.

Renfro was suspended by the school district following his arrest.

Officials at BGCS have released the following statement:

“On Tuesday, August 16, 2022, Michael Renfro, who was a teacher and coach with Beech Grove City Schools, resigned from his positions with the district.  As noted earlier, the district intends to fully cooperate with law enforcement officers as they conduct their investigation. The district has also contacted the Indiana Department of Education regarding Mr. Renfro’s emergency educator license, as the district is required to do by law.”
